The Open SOA collaboration is a group of vendors who have agreed to work together in the development of Specifications for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). It is not a membership organization of any kind and particularly it is not a standards organization. The www.osoa.org web-site, while independently maintained, does not belong to an organization of any form.
Our group welcomes input and involvement in a number of ways:
- First, the feedback mechanism associated with each of the projects (SCA and SDO) provides the ability to submit comments and proposals to change the Specifications as they currently exist. In order to ensure that the Specifications remain available royalty-free, submitters will be asked to agree to royalty-free licensing of any patent claims that may have which are associated with their feedback. Feedback may be submitted via the "Feedback" navigation buttons on the left (blue) column in this window.
- The Apache Tuscany project
is developing an open source runtime (both Java and C++) for SCA and SDO and welcomes individuals to comment or become committers on the project. There is also similar work taking place relating to the PHP language.
- The SOA Tools platform project
at Eclipse is developing a framework and exemplary tools based on the SCA Specification to enable the design, configuration, assembly, deployment, monitoring, and management of software designed around a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). The project, which is open to both Eclipse members and others, also welcomes participation.
- For companies whose interest goes to assisting in Specification creation - and are willing to commit engineering resources to do that type of work - we have recently launched an "OSOA Supporters Program". Resources are made available to OSOA Supporters including an interactive forum to communicate directly with the OSOA Partners behind the SCA and SDO projects. Click here for further information.
Obviously, employees of the vendors making up the Open SOA collaboration do not need to sign any further agreement to become more closely involved. You should get in touch with your Business or Technical representatives that are participating in this initiative. Please use the "Contact us" button on the left hand panel if you are unsure of who to contact.
